A massive fire broke out during the repair of a cargo ship located on the banks of the Muri Ganga River at lot number eight of Kakdwip. The blaze ignited suddenly in the ship's engine, prompting an immediate response from the fire department.

According to the Harwood Point Coastal Police Station, present at the scene, preliminary investigations suggest that the fire originated from a spark during the repair work.
